About Me

Me in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, France

My cumulative travel experiences inspired me to create this blog: after traveling as a student, on a budget, alone, in countries whose language I didn’t speak, and while struggling with mental health, I wanted to share my unique travel perspective with others. “A Direct Connection” focuses on authentic, genuine travel, emphasizing travel over tourism and ways in which we can connect, both within ourselves and with others, while in foreign places.

After traveling to thirty-six states and ten countries, I hope to reach all fifty states in the next decade and all seven continents over the course of my lifetime. My current favorite places in the world include Annecy, France, New Orleans, LA, Traverse City, MI and its surrounding suburbs, and the Sacred Valley region of Peru. Outside of traveling, I enjoy getting lost in a good book (just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns), writing fiction, and spending time with my dog.
